Abstract

Process for the polymerization of acrylic monomers and optionally vinyl comonomers using an initiator of formula R - M (1) in which M denotes a metal chosen from alkali and alkaline earth metals and R denotes a straight or branched chain alkyl radical containing 2 to 6 carbon atoms or an aryl radical. The polymerization is carried out in the presence of an additive consisting of a non-nitrogenous macrocyclic complexing agent. Application to the production of acrylic polymers having a narrow distribution of molecular weights.
