Abstract

Abstract An input apparatus (1) for computers is interposed between a keyboard (2) and the computer (3). This apparatus comprises: an area designating device (4) on which a desired visible information sheet (S₁ ∼ S₃) having predetermined visible information can be disposed and which outputs a designation area signal indicative of the designated area of the visible information; a receiver (17) to receive registration data comprising the area of the visible information and the key code of one or a series of plurality of keys corresponding to this area, the registration data being sent from an external system (3); a registering memory (18) to store the registration data received by the receiver; a data fetching circuit (15) to take out the corresponding key code from the registering memory by reference to the registration data in response to the designation area signal which is given from the area designating device; and a transmitter (17) to transmit the fetched key code to the computer. With this apparatus, by previously making a desired visible information sheet and the registration data of the sheet, the registration data can be easily registered in the input apparatus, so that the operator can easily operate the input apparatus and input the key code to the computer by designating the area on the sheet.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 6
Claim 1
Independent Claim 89 words
An input apparatus (1) for computers comprising: area designating means (4) on which a visible information sheet (S₁ -S₃) having predetermined visible information is locatable and which is adapted to output a designation area signal indicative of a designated area of the visible information; means (18) for registering a key code corresponding to the designated area; and transmitting means (15,17) for taking out the corresponding key code from the registration means (18) in response to the designation area signal and adapted to transmit the key code to a computer.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 89 words
An input apparatus (1) for computers comprising: area designating means (4) on which a visible information sheet (S₁ -S₃) having predetermined visible information is locatable and which is adapted to output a designation area signal indicative of a designated area of the visible information; means (18) for registering a key code corresponding to the designated area; and transmitting means (15,17) for taking out the corresponding key code from the registration means (18) in response to the designation area signal and adapted to transmit the key code to a computer.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 60 words
An apparatus according to claim 1, having receiving means (17) for receiving registration data comprising the area of visible information and key code, the key code being a code of one or a plurality of keys corresponding to the designated area, the transmitting means (15,17) being adapted to take out the corresponding key code by reference to the registration data.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 28 words
An apparatus according to claim 2, wherein the receiving means (17) is also adapted to transmit to the computer, thereby to form part of the transmitting means (15,17).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 46 words
An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the registering means (18) includes a first memory part (19) to store data indicative of the area of visible information, and a second memory part (20) to store the key code in correspondence to the area of visible information.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 45 words
An apparatus according to claim 1, having keyboard receiving means (16) for receiving a key code signal from a keyboard (2), the registering means (18) being adapted to register the key code received by the keyboard receiving means (16) which corresponds to the designated area.
