Abstract

The electronic remote control device works according to the known principle of code advancement, in which a different code word is used after each transmission / reception process. In the invention, the new code word is generated from a stored original code word (1, 19) and the previous code word (3; 17, 21) by logical combination (2, 20) according to a predetermined function . If there is a mismatch between the code word received and the code word newly determined on the reception side, further code words (CDW x + 1 ..., CDW x + n) are generated. If no match is found, the receiver switches to increased security, in which two immediately successive code words must match.
