Abstract

Abstract A system is provided for reading index codes from a recording disk (1) divided into a low speed digital region and a high speed video region. Each of the regions has a read-in area containing index codes (I,J) for both the regions. When either read-in area is read, the index codes are stored in a common memory (16) with the index codes (I) of one region being stored in sequence from one end of the memory and those (J) of the other region being stored in sequence from the other end of the memory.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 6
Claim 1
Independent Claim 151 words
A system for reading and storing index codes (I,J) from a recording disk which has first (2) and/or second (3) recording regions with information recorded differently therein, the index codes (I,J) each including identifying information representative of the region to which the index code relates; the system comprising means (5 etc.) for reading the index codes (I,J) in sequence selectively from either a read-in area of the first recording region or a read-in area of the second recording region; a memory (16); and means (15) for storing the index codes in the memory; characterized in that the means (15) for storing the index codes in the memory is arranged to store index codes relating to the first recording region in sequence from a higher address side of the memory (16) and to store index codes relating to the second recording region in sequence from a lower address side of the memory.
Claim 2
Claim 3
Independent Claim 200 words
A system for reading and storing a composite index code (U,J) from a recording disk (1) which has a first region (2) recorded with a first predetermined digital signal and first and second groups of index codes (I,J) and a second region (3) recorded with a frequency-modulated video signal and a second predetermined digital signal in a superimposed state therewith and the said first and second groups of index codes (I,J), each of the index codes (I,J) including identifying information representative of the region to which the index code relates; the system comprising: means (5 etc.) for selectively reading in sequence from either a first read-in area or a second read-in area of a recording disk the first and second group of index codes (I,J); a memory (16); and means (15) for storing the read index codes in the memory, characterized in that the means for storing the read index codes in the memory is arranged to store index codes of a first one of the groups in sequence from a higher address side of the memory and to store the index codes of a second one of the groups in sequence from a lower address side of the memory.
Claim 4
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 56 words
A system according to claim 1 or claim 2, further comprising means (15,4) for rotating the disk within a first range of speeds when the reading means (5) is reading from the first region and within a second range of speeds, higher than the first range, when the reading means is reading from the second region.
Claim 6
Independent Claim 30 words
A system according to any of claims 1 to 3, wherein each of the first and second read-in areas contain duplicates of the first and second groups of index codes.
