Abstract

Abstract Input selection data applied from a user through a user interface to a network is checked against a knowledge data base containing updated rules of the architecture of the network. If the selection data is invalid with respect to the rules, appropriate data from the knowledge data base is applied through the user interface for display to the user to enable him to correct his input data.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 8
Claim 1
Independent Claim 89 words
A method of establishing communications over a network arranged to receive input data selections from a user through a user interface, characterised by the steps of: comparing said input data selections with data in a knowledge base containing rules of a network architecture to determine the validity of the input data selections; and in the event the input data selections are invalid with respect to said rules, displaying to said user through said user interface a network architecture rule from said knowledge base for correcting the input data selections.
Claim 2
Independent Claim 89 words
A method of establishing communications over a network arranged to receive input data selections from a user through a user interface, characterised by the steps of: comparing said input data selections with data in a knowledge base containing rules of a network architecture to determine the validity of the input data selections; and in the event the input data selections are invalid with respect to said rules, displaying to said user through said user interface a network architecture rule from said knowledge base for correcting the input data selections.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 30 words
A method as claimed in claim 1 further characterised by the step of: transmitting said input data selections over said network when they are valid with respect to said rules.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 37 words
A method as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2, in which said knowledge base includes a table including integrity values defining valid user data with respect to said rules for comparison with said input data selections.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 45 words
A method as claimed in claim 3 in which said knowledge base further includes claims for claiming at least some of said integrity values into groups for comparison of each integrity value in a group related to a specific rule with said input data selections.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 41 words
A method as claimed in claim 3 or claim 4, in which said knowledge base further includes reference pointers for directing a current data selection comparison with a current variable name to a corresponding integrity value with a different variable name.
Claim 7
Independent Claim 100 words
A system for establishing communications over a network characterised by: a current data base (30); a user interface (40) for displaying the current data base and user selections to a user; a knowledge base (20) having a table of rules of the architecture of said network; and control means (30) for comparing the user selections with the knowledge base to determine the validity of an input user selection, and for displaying to the user, through said user interface, network architecture rules corresponding to the user selection on receipt of a user request which is invalid with respect to said rules.
Claim 8
Independent Claim 100 words
A system for establishing communications over a network characterised by: a current data base (30); a user interface (40) for displaying the current data base and user selections to a user; a knowledge base (20) having a table of rules of the architecture of said network; and control means (30) for comparing the user selections with the knowledge base to determine the validity of an input user selection, and for displaying to the user, through said user interface, network architecture rules corresponding to the user selection on receipt of a user request which is invalid with respect to said rules.
