Abstract
Abstract The rate of padding of the pixels is chosen to be less than 10%. In addition, the pixels may be divided into sub-pixels. Among the resultant advantages are (a) a better immunity from ambient light, (b) a reduction of parasitic coupling between pixels, (c) the possibility of using relatively high excitation frequencies, (d) a considerable reduction in electrical power consumption, (e) an improvement in manufacturing output, and (f) the possibility of producing displays of larger size. <IMAGE>
