Isomaltamine and its N-acylated derivatives, method for their preparation and their use
Abstract
According to the present invention, new aminopolyols obtainable from the disccharides isomaltose, isomaltulose and α-D-glucopyranosyl (l → l) -D-fructose are initially provided. These compounds, referred to as isomaltamines, have the formulas and mixtures thereof are prepared by reductive amination of the aforementioned saccharides using ammonia or hydrazine compounds in the presence of catalysts, such as Raney nickel, and hydrogen, or using complex metal hydrides, such as sodium borohydride, in solution or suspension. The invention further relates to the N-acyl derivatives of the individual isomaltamines or mixtures thereof and the preparation of the N-acylates by selective N-acylation. Depending on the acyl radical, these acylates can be used, for example, as surfactants or, as in the case of N-acrylamide, for the production of polymers.
