Process for preparing transparent protective silicon coatings
Abstract
Abstract Translated from German Verfahren zum Herstellen transparenter Schutzschichten, insbesondere auf optischen Kunststoff-Substraten. Process for producing transparent protective layers, in particular on optical plastic substrates. Layer material is deposited by chemical vapor deposition under the action of plasma (plasma CVD) on a polymerizable monomeric organic compound from the group of the siloxanes and silazanes, excess oxygen being fed to the polymerization process. The following process steps are proposed to solve the problem of further improving the adhesive strength and layer hardness without complex process management: a) the plasma is generated by means of high frequency between two electrodes, one of which has a cathode function, b) the substrates are arranged on the electrode with the cathode function, and the electrical power supplied is set so high that the bias voltage on the substrates is at least -80 volts, and c) the partial pressure of oxygen is chosen to be at least five times as high as the partial pressure of the organic compound from the group of siloxanes and silazanes.
