Abstract

Abstract A motion transmitting remote control assembly (10) for transmitting motion in a curved path includes a tube member (14) and a rod (18) moveably supported by the tube member (14) and extending therefrom to provide a variable extending length of the rod member (18) between the tube member (14) and one end (20) thereof to define a line of force. An integral terminal member (22) operatively interconnects extending length of the rod member (18) and a control member (24). The terminal member (22) has a cavity (36) therein defining an axis which is perpendicular relative to the line of force. The assembly (10) is characterized by a terminal member (22) including a resilient integral vibration dampening member (38) totally encapsulated in the cavity (36) and including a spherical retaining pocket (40) for retaining the ball pin (32) of a control member (24). A method for manufacturing the assembly includes the steps of placing the resilient pocket member (38) about a spherical mandrel (60), molding the terminal member (22) about the pocket member (38) to retain the shape of the pocket (40), and removing the mandrel (60) from the mold terminal member (22).
