Abstract In a semiconductor power switch with a power thyristor (Th1), which can be turned off via a gate electrode, and a control thyristor (Th2) provided for controlling the power thyristor (Th1), the drive circuit is simplified by the fact that a field-controlled thyristor (FCTh) or a static induction thyristor (SITh) is used as control thyristor (Th2). <IMAGE>
