Abstract

The present invention relates to a honeycomb body, in particular a catalyst carrier body, which is insensitive to thermal loads and expansions and therefore has an extended service life. Such a catalyst carrier body is constructed from structured sheets (1, 2) which are arranged in layers and form a multiplicity of channels through which gases can flow, the sheets being arranged in a casing tube (7) and connected to it by joining technology. According to the invention, the catalyst carrier body consists of a stack of structured sheets (1, 2), the ends of which are each intertwined in opposite directions about two fixed points (5, 6). The ends of the sheets (1, 2) are connected to the casing tube (7), preferably by soldering. Different cross-sectional shapes can be produced by differently choosing the fixed points (5, 6) and, if necessary, adding filler pieces.
