Abstract The emulsions contain platelet-shaped silver halide crystals of layered structure and can give a latent internal image; they are prepared by growing a shell of silver halide on chemically sensitised, platelet-shaped silver halide cores. Sensitisation of the shell and treatment of the resulting crystals with iodide ions. <IMAGE>
