Abstract

Abstract An organic electrolyte cell is disclosed which comprises an anode (2) made of Li or Li alloy, an organic electrolyte and cathode active material (5) made of Li and metal complex oxide represented by LiMO 2 wherein M stands for at least one of Co, Ni, Fe, Cr, and V. The cell has a discharge voltage of 1.2 to 1.3 volts which is compatible with mercury cell.
