Total Claims: 13
Claim 1
Independent Claim 120 words
An electrochromic mirror (10) comprising, in the order indicated, a glass substrate (11); a conductive coating (1) thereon; one of an anodic electrochromic layer (2) of nickel hydroxide and a cathodic elecrochromic layer (4) of tungsten oxide; a solid electrolyte layer (3); the other of said cathodic electrochromic layer (4) and said anodic electrochromic layer (2); and a layer (5) of a reflective/conductive material; characterised in that the anodic nickel hydroxide electrochromic layer (2) has a thickness of from about 30 to about 60 nm, the solid electrolyte layer (3) has a thickness of from about 100 to about 150 nm and the cathodic tungsten oxide electrochromic layer (4) has a thickness of from about 60 to about 120 nm.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 120 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 45 words
A mirror as claimed in claim 1 in which the anodic layer (2) has a thickness of about 40 nm, the solid electrolyte layer (3) has a thickness of about 130 nm and the cathodic electrochromic layer (4) has a thickness of about 80 nm.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 22 words
A mirror as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2 in which the said one layer is the nickel hydroxide layer (2).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 20 words
A mirror as claimed in any one of the preceding claims in which the conductive coating (1) is indium-tin oxide.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 21 words
A mirror as claimed in claim 4 in which the indium-tin oxide layer (1) has a thickness of about 160 nm.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 20 words
A mirror as claimed in any one of the preceding claims in which the refiective/conductive layer (5) is metallic aluminium.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 21 words
A mirror as claimed in claim 6 in which the aluminium layer is from about 50 to about 150 nm thick.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 22 words
A mirror as claimed in any one of the preceding claims having no glass layer other than the said glass substrate (11)
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 39 words
A mirror as claimed in any one of the preceding claims in which each of the nickel hydroxide (2), tungsten oxide (4) and solid electrolyte (3) layers is sufficiently porous to effect rapid injection, ejection and transmission of ions.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 32 words
A mirror as claimed in any one of the preceding claims in which the solid electrolyte layer (3) comprises tantalum pentoxide, caesium oxide, aluminium oxide, magnesium fluoride, silicon dioxide or mixtures thereof.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 15 words
A mirror as claimed in claim 10 in which the solid electrolyte is tantalum pentoxide.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 48 words
A mirror as claimed in any one of the preceding claims when manufactured by a method in which the nickel hydroxide (2), solid electrolyte (3) and tungsten oxide (4) layers are deposited in partial vacuums in which back pressure is kept as high as possible without disrupting deposition.
