Abstract Thermoplastic blends of amorphous polyamide with a resin selected from the group consisting of polycarbonate, poly(ester-carbonate), and polyarylate have excellent physical properties.

A method for preparing a thermoplastic blend comprising the steps: (i) melt blending thermoplastic resins comprising polyamide and at least one resin selected from the group consisting of polycarbonate, poly(ester-carbonate), and polyarylate; and (ii) cooling the resultant resin melt at a sufficient rate to produce an amorphous polyamide phase.
