Abstract

Abstract Reader, in particular of memory cards, comprising a printed circuit board provided with electronic components for processing and/or interrogating the data contained in the memory card, this printed circuit board being arranged in a box or an appliance provided with a front slot for inserting the memory card. This card reader (1) comprises flexible contacts establishing electrical contact between the electronic circuits of the reader (1) and the contact regions of the chip (30) of the memory card (6), the said flexible contacts interacting, on the one hand, with means of guiding and positioning the free ends (10) of the said flexible contacts, and on the other hand, with means of guiding and positioning the memory card (6) in the reader (1). The invention relates to memory card readers. <IMAGE>

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 184 words
Reader (1) of cards, especially of memory cards (6) or the like, - comprising, in a housing (2), a printed-circuit card (3) equipped with electronic components for the processing and/or call-up of the data contained in the memory card (6), - the housing having a front slit (5) for inserting the memory card (6), - the reader having flexible contacts (7) making electrical contact between the printed-circuit card (3) and the contact zones of the chip (30) of the memory card (6), one of the ends (8) of the flexible contacts being fixed to the printed-circuit card (3), being connected electrically to the terminals of the latter and being positioned in slots (9) arranged in this, characterised in that the housing comprises a middle part (14) surmounted by a lid (25) fixed to a lower part (11) exactly positioning the printed-circuit card (3), and in that free ends (10) of the flexible contacts (7) are guided and positioned laterally by means for guiding the middle part (14), which consist of calibrated longitudinal slots (15) arranged in the middle part (14) of the housing (2).
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 46 words
Reader (1) according to Claim 1, characterised in that the said flexible contacts (7) consist of metal contacts (7) in the form of an elastic rod, the other end (10) of which, being free, is directed towards the electrical contact zones of the memory card (6).
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 55 words
Reader (1) according to Claim 1, characterised in that means for guiding and positioning the memory card (6) in the reader (1) consist of a receptacle (4) accessible via the front slit (5) and equipped with an elastic boss (19) for lateral guidance which is arranged in the middle part (14) of the housing (2).
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 29 words
Reader (1) according to Claims 1 and 3, characterised in that the lower part (11) of the housing (2) has vertical wings (13) supporting the printed-circuit card (3) horizontally.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 30 words
Reader (1) according to Claim 1, characterised in that the lid (25) of the housing (2) has means for positioning the printed-circuit card (3) which consist of vertical stops (12).
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 57 words
Reader (1) according to Claims 1 and 5, characterised in that it possesses a microswitch (22) located at the bottom (21) of the receptacle (4), the said microswitch (22) being actuated by the memory card (6) reaching the end of its travel at the bottom of the receptacle (4), for applying voltage to the memory card (6).
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 32 words
Reader (1) according to Claim 1, characterised in that the position of the card (6) is detected by measuring the current consumption of the chip (30) located on the memory card (6).
