Abstract
Abstract The gasket 2 comprise a compensating plate 4, an intermediate plate 6 laminated onto said compensating plate 4 having a folded edge 4a, a first base plate 8 having a first bead 16 so as to surround the edge 4 a and a compensating means 20 having a predetermined thickness which is provided on the side of the combustion chamber rather than the side of the portion where the bead 16 of the base plate 8 is formed in order to present increase and decrease in a gap between deck surfaces.

A metallic gasket comprising: a compensating plate having a combustion chamber hole; an intermediate plate laminated onto said compensating plate; a folded edge of said compensating plate which is formed by folding back the edge on the side of said combustion chamber hole of the compensating plate in the direction opposite to said hole; a first base plate consisting of an elastic metal plate and having a first bead which is disposed onto at least either one of said laminated compensating plate and intermediate plate; and compensating means having a predetermined thickness which is provided on the side of the combustion chamber hole rather than the side of the portion where said bead of the base plate is formed in order to prevent increase and decrease in a gap between deck surfaces.
