Polyoxazolidines, process for their preparation and their use as hardeners, particularly for mastics

Abstract

Abstract These compounds, denoted by either of the formulae (Ia) or (Ib) below, are obtained by reactions of aldehydes or ketones with poly- beta-aminoalcohols. They are useful as latent curing agents in compositions based on organic polyisocyanates. <IMAGE> n = 2 to 4; R2, R'2 = especially H, C1-C10 hydrocarbon residue, R3 = C1-C12 residue of valency 1; R4, R5, R'4, R'5 = H or residue of valency 1; R = residue of functionality n, and obtained, in the case of the compounds (Ia) by removal of the n epoxide functional groups from an n-functional polyepoxide compound and, in the case of the compounds (Ib) by removal of the n NH2 functional groups from an n-functional primary polyamine containing neither any urethane functional groups nor any ester functional groups or any aldimine functional groups, but necessarily containing at least one ether functional group in the chain.
