Pre-engraved information carrier and its optical scanning device with sampled access
Abstract
The invention relates to pre-etched information carriers and their optical scanning devices. The information is stored according to a track composed of adjacent elements (17) located in a memory plane of the support. An exploration task focused in this plane must be able to access any of these elements (17) to write data, to read them or to modify them. The subject of the invention is an information medium whose patterns (18) define a radial graduation which the exploration device analyzes by the sampling technique with a view to determining the absolute position of the exploration spot with respect to the track elements (17) which can only be materialized by discrete pre-etching elements (23,18). The invention is particularly applicable to very high density optical memories using a pre-recorded disc writable by thermooptic interaction with a laser beam adjustable in intensity.
