Abstract In a decorative article having a transparent body (1) on whose surface a coating system is provided to generate interference effects, contrast, which can be employed for decoration, is produced by means of at least three interference coatings (2a, 2b, 2c) which differ in thickness and/or refractive index in various surface regions (01, 02, 03). In this way, in spite of the lack of colour depth, an aesthetic effect can be achieved without impairing the transparency of the article. <IMAGE>
