Abstract
Abstract A laminar structure comprises a skin structure that includes an elastomeric skin (and may also include an adhhesive layer and/or an elastomeric top coat), and a stretchable fabric attached to the skin structure. The skin structure contains expandable microspheres which expand when the laminar structure is heated. The resultant laminate is highly resistant to strike-through when a foamed core is moulded on to the skin structure on the side therof opposite to the stretchable fabric.

A laminar structure comprising a skin structure that includes an elastomeric skin, and a stretchable fabric attached to the skin structure, characterised in that the skin structure contains expandable microspheres.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
30 words
A laminar structure comprising a skin structure that includes an elastomeric skin, and a stretchable fabric attached to the skin structure, characterised in that the skin structure contains expandable microspheres.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
46 words
A laminar structure according to claim 1 in which the skin structure comprises the elastomeric skin and an adhesive layer, the adhesive layer attaching the stretchable fabric to the skin structure, and at least one of the elastomeric skin and the adhesive layer contains expandable microspheres.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
49 words
A laminar structure according to claim 1 in which the skin structure comprises the elastomeric skin and an elastomeric top coat, the top coat and the stretchable fabric lying on opposite sides of the skin, and at least one of said skin and said top coat contains expandable microspheres.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
64 words
A laminar structure according to claim 1 in which the skin structure comprises the elastomeric skin, an elastomeric top coat on one side of the skin, and an adhesive layer on the opposite side of the skin, the adhesive layer attaching the stretchable fabric to the skin structure, and at least one of said elastomeric skin, adhesive layer and top coat contains expandable microspheres.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
21 words
A laminar structure according to any one of the preceding claims, modified so that the microspheres are in an expanded state.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
45 words
A process for the production of a laminated fabric structure comprising affixing a skin structure that includes an elastomeric skin to a stretchable fabric to form a laminate; characterised in that expandable microspheres contained in said skin structure are expanded after formation of the laminate.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
45 words
A process for the production of a laminated fabric structure comprising affixing a skin structure that includes an elastomeric skin to a stretchable fabric to form a laminate; characterised in that expandable microspheres contained in said skin structure are expanded after formation of the laminate.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
39 words
A process according to claim 6 in which the stretchable fabric is affixed to the elastomeric skin by means of an adhesive layer, and at least one of said elastomeric skin and said adhesive layer contains said expandable microspheres.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
59 words
A process according to claim 6 in which an elastomeric top coat in affixed to one side of the elastomeric skin; the stretchable fabric is affixed by means of an adhesive layer to the opposite side of the elastomeric skin, and at least one of said elastomeric topcoat, said elastomeric skin and said adhesive layer contains said expandable microspheres.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim
21 words
A process according to any one of claims 6 to 8 in which said laminate is heated to expand said microspheres.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim
68 words
A process according to any one of claims 6 to 9 in which after the laminate has been heated to expand said microspheres the resulting laminated fabric structure is vacuum formed in a mold; liquid foamable composition is introduced into said laminated fabric structure in said mold; said composition is caused to foam in a controlled manner; and said foamed laminated fabric structure is removed from said mold.
