Abstract

An implantable, transvenously insertable pacemaker lead (1) has a flexible conductor (2) which, at its distal end to be anchored in the heart, has a helix (4) that is fixed relative to it and can be screwed into the heart muscle. The pacemaker lead (1) also includes a flexible guide tube (5) surrounding the lead (2) during implantation, against which the helix (4) after insertion into the heart due to an axial relative movement between the lead (2) and guide tube (5) emerges and can be screwed into the heart muscle by turning. The guide tube (5) is then removed. In order to make the proximal end of the conductor (2) accessible even while removing the guide tube (5), so that a stylet (8) can remain or be inserted and, above all, a plug (7) is already attached to the conductor (2) can, the guide tube (5) has at least one predetermined breaking point along its length, at which it can be separated at the same time as it is pulled back, so that it can be removed laterally from the conductor (2) after exiting the body.
