Abstract
Abstract A capacitive displacement transducer (10) includes first and second tubular electrodes (11,12) arranged in end-to-end relationship on a common axis (22) and a probe (14) displaceable on axis (ZZ) in response to pressure applied to a cap (17). The probe (141 which has no electrical connection modifies the capacitive coupling of the electrodes to an extent dependent on the size of the displacement. A tactile sensor array (1) comprises a plurality of the transducers (10) arranged in a two dimensional configuration.
