Mechanical fixture for positioning two optical-fibre ends
Abstract
Abstract Translated from German Mechanische Vorrichtung zum Aufeinandereinjustieren der Enden (51, 81) zweier optischer Faserendabschnitte (5, 8) von Monomodefasern. Mechanical device for aligning the ends (51, 81) of two optical fiber end sections (5, 8) of single-mode fibers. A high long-term stability is to be achieved with such a device. For this purpose, the device essentially consists of two fiber holders (62, 63) which are fixed on two identical adjusting units (20, 30) with which these fiber holders can be adjusted perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the end sections and perpendicular to one another. A fiber holder (62) is designed so that the end section is displaceable in the longitudinal direction. The device exhibits good temperature behavior, in particular if it is made of Invar steel. It is compact, low and rigid.
