Abstract

Abstract A fluorescence detection apparatus for immunoassay comprising an optical system (2, 3, 4) for irradiating a sample (5) containing a fluorescent substance obtained by an immunoreaction with a light emitted from a fluorescent discharge tube (2), a photosensor (8) receiving fluoresence emitted from the sample (5) for converting the received fluorescence into an electric signal, a power source (1) controlled by a clock pulse generator (1A) to intermittently perform the irradiation with a light emitted from the discharge tube (2) at a predetermined frequency, and a phase sensitive detector (10) for detecting the electric signal in synchronism with the frequency of intermittent irradiation to detect an intensity of the fluorescence by way of the electric signal.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 99 words
A fluorescence detection apparatus for immunoassay having: means for irradiating a sample containing a fluorescent substance obtained by an immunoreaction with a light emitted from a light source; and means receiving fluoresence emitted from said sample for converting the received fluorescence into an electric signal to detect an intensity of said fluorescence by way of said electric signal; characterized in that said fluorescence detection apparatus comprises: means for intermittently performing said irradiation with a light emitted from said light source at a predetermined frequency; and means for detecting said electric signal in synchronism with said frequency of intermittent irradiation.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 99 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 38 words
A fluorescence detection apparatus for immunoassay as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that said irradiating means has an illuminating tube which is intermittently energized and an AC or pulse power source for intermittently driving said illuminating tube.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 52 words
A fluorescence detection apparatus for immunoassay as claimed in claim 1 or 2, characterized in that said irradiating means is one unit disposed in common for a plurality of samples aligned in a row, and said conversion means includes a plurality of units separately assigned to each of said plurality of samples.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 43 words
A fluorescence detection apparatus for immunoassay as claimed in claim 1, 2 or 3, characterized in that the direction of said irradiation of said sample with the light emitted from said light source and that of extraction of said fluorescence are the same.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 52 words
A fluorescence detection apparatus for immunoassay as claimed in claim 3 or 4, characterized in that said irradiating means has a single elongated illuminating tube having a length covering all of said samples aligned in a row so that the light is irradiated in common from said light source to said samples.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 67 words
A fluorescence detection apparatus for immunoassay as claimed in claim 5, further comprising means for splitting a light and said splitting means being disposed in a light path between said samples and said converting means for guiding the light emitted from said illuminating tube to said samples through said splitting means, and fluorescence emitted from said samples being guided to said converting means through said splitting means.
