Abstract
Abstract To allow for small mesh stringing at the centre of a large face racket without increasing the weight, the frame is made of a core member 2 of foamed plastic and a covering structural member 3. The structural member 3 is composed of fibre-reinforced layers 4 with a greater number of layers 4 on the outside of the frame to increase its strength. The strings 7 are protected by a peripheral groove 9 in the frame. A surface layer 12 of synthetic resin or enamel covers the member 3 and equalizes the internal and external thicknesses.

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 6
Claim 1
Independent Claim
51 words
A racket having a frame comprising a core member and a structural member covering said core member, said structural member being strengthened, at least in regions where the holes for the racket strings are close together, by being made thicker on the outside and thinner on the inside of the frame.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
51 words
A racket having a frame comprising a core member and a structural member covering said core member, said structural member being strengthened, at least in regions where the holes for the racket strings are close together, by being made thicker on the outside and thinner on the inside of the frame.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
33 words
A racket as claimed in claim 1 in which the spacing of the holes for the strings is arranged so that the strings form smaller meshes in a central region of the racket.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
23 words
A racket as claimed in claim 1 or 2 in which the core member of the frame is of foamed synthetic plastic material.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
42 words
A racket as claimed in claim 1, 2 or 3 in which the structural member is formed of fibre-reinforced synthetic resin sheets with greater numbers of sheets in the thicker outside regions and smaller numbers of sheets in the thinner inside regions.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
26 words
A racket as claimed in any of the preceding claims in which the structural member is covered by an outer layer of synthetic resin or enamel.
