Abstract

Abstract A method of operating a disk player that reproduces information recorded on a disk. Programs on the disk are addre- seed from a directory in a memory and the programs are sequentially accessed according to the order in the directory. The directory can be filled by inserting random numbers or by scanning through the programs or over the tracks. A table of contents at the beginning of the disk is read if possible. The tracks can be scanned and only tracks having new programs are reproduced. Also a playback position servo operates with a dead-zone in the drive voltage.

Claim 4
Dependent Claim 37 words
A method according to claim 2, further comprising: determining if the memory contains the address information; and if the memory does not contain the address information, storing a random number as the address information in the memory.
Claim 5
Independent Claim 65 words
A method according to any of claims 1 to 3, wherein: responsive to a subsequent setting of the first switch to the first state, the sequential pointing and reproducing steps sequentially point to the address information and reproduce the program information addressed by the pointed to address information in a continuation of the order before the setting of the first switch to the second state.
Claim 6
Independent Claim 132 words
A method according to any of claims 1 to 4, further comprising: setting a second switch to either a third or a fourth state; responsive to the first state of the first switch together with the third state of the second switch, the sequential pointing step sequentially and periodically points to an adjacent address information and subsequentially, responsive to a subsequent fourth state of the second switch, reproducing the program information addressed by the last pointed to address information; and responsive to the second state of the first switch together with the third state of the second switch, displaying an address information pointed to in a continuation of the order and subsequently responsive to the fourth state of the second switch reproducing the program information addressed by the pointed to address information.
Claim 7
Independent Claim 141 words
A method according to any of claims 1 to 4, further comprising: setting a second switch to either a third or a fourth state; responsive to the first state of the first switch together with the third state of the second switch, the sequential pointing step sequentially and periodically points to an adjacent address information and subsequently, responsive to a subsequent fourth state of the second switch, reproducing the program information addressed by the last pointed to address information; and responsive to the second state of the first switch together with the third state of the second switch, displaying an address information pointed to in a continuation of the order and periodically incrementing the address information and responsive to a subsequent setting of the fourth state of the second switch reproducing the program addressed by the pointed to incremented address information.
