Abstract

Abstract The device possesses a housing (1) open at the top and is provided with two bearings for the rotatable mounting of a damping roller (5) requiring cleaning. The roller (5) is sprayed tangentially with a water jet from a spray nozzle (7) introduced through the opening (6) in the housing (1). The roller (5) rotates under the action of the water jet and throws off the water with the dissolved ink residues. Dirt and ink residues accumulate in a collecting basin (9) with a high-level discharge pipe (4). A spray guard (31) prevents the exit of splashes through the opening (6). The feed unit (10) for feeding the spray nozzle (7) is designed as an exchangeable unit. This design allows the device to be installed in a space-saving manner and operated in a clean and environmentally friendly way. The rollers are cleaned quickly and gently. <IMAGE>
