Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 14
Claim 1
Independent Claim 80 words
An active special contact (20) adapted for insertion into a hybrid contact insert (1) of a connector, said active contact comprising a housing (25), first contact elements (41, 42, 27) disposed in said housing (25), a supporting element (32) for receiving an electro-optic transducer (24), second contact elements (38) provided in said supporting element (32), means (43, 44) for releasably connecting said housing (25) and said supporting element (32), and means for releasably connecting the first and second contact elements.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 80 words
An active special contact (20) adapted for insertion into a hybrid contact insert (1) of a connector, said active contact comprising a housing (25), first contact elements (41, 42, 27) disposed in said housing (25), a supporting element (32) for receiving an electro-optic transducer (24), second contact elements (38) provided in said supporting element (32), means (43, 44) for releasably connecting said housing (25) and said supporting element (32), and means for releasably connecting the first and second contact elements.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 30 words
A special contact according to claim 1, characterized in that means are provided which allow said special contact to be snapped into a hole (7) of said contact insert (1).
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 40 words
A special contact according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that said means for releasably connecting said housing (25) and said supporting element (32) comprises threads (43, 44) provided on said housing (25) and on said supporting element (32).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 44 words
A special contact according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said first contact elements comprise connecting arms (29, 30, 35) extending out of said housing and connecting means for connection to said second contact elements in said supporting element.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 53 words
A special contact according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that the connecting arms (29, 30, 35) extend through a bottom wall of said housing (25) and said connecting means for connection to said second contact elements extends through a side wall offset substantially perpendicular to said bottom wall.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 64 words
A special contact according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that the connecting arm (35) of at least one contact element (27) extends out of said housing and, opposite to said connecting arm (35), said element (27) has a connecting part (37) insulated from said housing (25) and which extends through a hole in the side wall of said housing.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 37 words
A special contact according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said supporting element (32) comprises a metal sleeve (21) which can be fastened to said housing (25) and supports said electro-optic transducer.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 77 words
A special contact according to claim 7, characterized in that one end of the metal sleeve (21) has an external thread (44) for fastening to an internal thread (43) of said housing (25) and that said electro-optic transducer (24) is held on the other end of said sleeve, and that the end of said metal sleeve (21) opposite to its threaded end (44) is crimped around the housing of the electro-optic transducer (24) to retain said transducer.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 47 words
A special contact according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said electro-optic transducer (24) includes a contact element (38) which projects into the interior of the metal sleeve (21) and is adapted to contact said connecting part (37) of said housing (25).
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 69 words
A special contact according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that there is fastened in the interior of the metal sleeve (21) an insulating sleeve (28) whose inside diameter corresponds to the outside diameter of the connecting part (37) so that said supporting element (32) is guided when being fastened to said housing (25) and said connecting part (37) is insulated from said sleeve (21).
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 48 words
A special contact according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that the metal sleeve (21) forms one of the second contact elements and connects the housing of the electro-optic transducer (24) to said housing (25) and to the connecting arms (29, 30) associated therewith.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 39 words
A special contact according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that there is press-fitted to the metal sleeve (21) a guide sleeve (22) for centering a light waveguide contact with respect to the electro-optic transducer.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 41 words
A special contact according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that there is disposed on the guide sleeve (22) a spring ring (23) for retention of said contact in a chamber (7) of the contact insert (1).
