Abstract

Abstract A land drainage system comprising sub-soil tubes (1) connected to a suction container (3) has the container evacuated by a dual function system comprising liquid pumping means (4) and air extracting means (6). A reservoir (5) can contain liquid to be passed into the soil (e.g. for irrigating the land).

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 15
Claim 1
Independent Claim 61 words
A system for draining an area of ground, said system comprising a plurality of tubes under the ground surface and means for drawing water from said area through said tubes, in which the means for drawing water from the ground comprises a dual function system including liquid pumping means and fan means (as hereinbefore defined) for withdrawing air from the tubes.
Claim 2
Independent Claim 61 words
A system for draining an area of ground, said system comprising a plurality of tubes under the ground surface and means for drawing water from said area through said tubes, in which the means for drawing water from the ground comprises a dual function system including liquid pumping means and fan means (as hereinbefore defined) for withdrawing air from the tubes.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 29 words
A system according claim 1, in which the tubes are provided with openings in the tube wall, each having a free area of at the most 15 mm .
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 28 words
A system according to claim 1, in which the tubes are provided with openings in the tube wall, each having a free-area of at the most 10 mm2.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 27 words
A system according to claim 2 or claim 3, in which the openings are spaced along each tube with a spacing distance of at least 20 cm.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 27 words
A system according to claim 2 or claim 3, in which the openings are spaced along each tube with a spacing distance of at least 30 cm.
Claim 7
Independent Claim 49 words
A system according to any preceding claim, in which sensor means is arranged to indicate when air flow arises in some of said tubes and switch means is provided for switching on fan means to generate air suction in at least those tubes where air flow has been indicated.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 26 words
A system according to claim 6, in which said sensor means is arranged to automatically switch on the fan means upon sensing a substantial air flow.
Claim 9
Independent Claim 28 words
A system according to any preceding claim, in which the tubes have a cross-section exhibiting a concave underside and openings in the upper portion of said concave underside.
Claim 10
Independent Claim 28 words
A system as claimed in any preceding claim, in which the liquid pumping means is reversible to pump liquid from a reservoir into the ground via the tubes.
Claim 11
Independent Claim 19 words
A system as claimed in any preceding claim, in which the fan means is a high capacity vacuum pump.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 26 words
The use of a system according to any preceding claim for injecting water into the ground through said tubes to regulate the temperature of the ground.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 10 words
The use claimed in claim 11 for defrosting the ground.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 24 words
The use of a system according to any of claims 1 to 10 for injecting treated sewage water via said tubes into said area.
Claim 15
Dependent Claim 32 words
The use of a system according to any of claims 1 to 10, for repeated irrigating and draining of said area in order to leech out salt deposits and/or other undesired material.
