Abstract

Abstract A document processing apparatus has a plurality of resources including a plurality of data output device, a document processor for processing the data through corrections and editing, a memory for storing the data inputted from the data input means, as well as the corrected and edited data, and data output device for outputting the processed data. The apparatus further has a first detector for detecting, self-diagnostically, one or more resources which has an error contained therein, a second detector for detecting at least one substitute resource that may be. replaced with the error-containing resource as detected by the first detecting means. The apparatus stops its operation when no substitute resource is detected, but continues its operation when a substitute resource is detected. The substitute resource is replaced with the error-containing resource.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 4
Claim 1
Independent Claim 151 words
A document processing apparatus having a plurality of resources including a plurality of data output means, a document processing means for processing the data through corrections and editing, a memory storage means housed therein for storing the data inputted from the data input means, as well as the corrected and edited data, and data output means for outputting the processed data, said document processing apparatus comprising: a first detecting means for detecting, self-diagnostically, one or more resources which has an error contained therein; a second detecting means for detecting at least one substitute resource that may be replaced with the error-containing resource as detected by said first detecting means; a stopping means for stopping the operation of the apparatus when no substitute resource is detected; and a continuing means for continuing the operation of the apparatus when a substitute resource is detected, which substitute resource is replaced with said error-containing resource.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 151 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 25 words
A document processing apparatus as claimed in Claim 1, further comprising a CRT means which displays said substitute resource detected by said second detecting means.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 71 words
A document processing apparatus as claimed in Claim 1, wherein said second detecting means comprises: an error flag generator for generating an error flag; a mask pattern generating means for generating a mask pattern for a particular resource; a logic means for taking an AND between said error flag and said mask pattern; and a substitute possible detecting means for detecting that said particular resource is available for the substitute resource.
