Abstract

Abstract A digital control system for electronic apparatus (1) such as a television receiver, employs an internal bus (8) and includes at least one master controller (6) and a plurality of operation circuits (2 to 5) connected via control bus lines (9, 10) so that, during normal operation of the electronic apparatus (1), the master controller (6) can carry out predetermined control operations relative to the respective circuit blocks (2 to 5). During testing and/or adjustment, an auxiliary master controller (12) is connected to the control bus lines (9, 10) in order to control the operational circuits (2 to 5) in place of the master controller (6), while holding the master controller (6) in the slave mode.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 8
Claim 1
Independent Claim 112 words
A digital control system for use in electronic apparatus (1), the system comprising: master control means (6) for the electronic apparatus (1); a plurality of operational circuit elements (2 to 5) of the electronic apparatus (1) arranged to be controlled by said master control means (6); and control bus lines (8) interconnecting said master control means (6) and said plurality of operational circuit elements (2 to 5); characterised by auxiliary master control means (12) to be connected to said control bus lines (8) for controlling said operational circuit elements (2 to 5) in place of said master control means (6) and for holding said master control means (6) in a slave mode.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 112 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 46 words
A digital control system according to claim 1 wherein said auxiliary master control means (12) includes means for holding said master control means (6) in a slave mode by transmitting control data to said master control means (6) by way of said control bus lines (8).
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 65 words
A digital control system according to claim 2 wherein said master control means (6) is incorporated within said electronic apparatus (1), and said system further comprises a connector terminal (11) connected to said control bus lines (8) and arranged to be connected to said auxiliary master control means (12), whereby said auxiliary master control means (12) is temporarily connected to said control bus lines (8).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 38 words
A digital control system according to claim 2 wherein said auxiliary master control means (12) includes means for transmitting control data to said master control means (6) to release said master control means (6) from said slave mode.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 44 words
A digital control system according to claim 4 wherein said auxiliary control means (12) includes means for transmitting address data specifying the master control means (6) to receive control data in advance of a change in operational mode of said master control means (6).
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 44 words
6 . A digital control system according to claim 2 wherein said auxiliary control means (12) includes means for transmitting address data specifying the master control means (6) to receive control data prior to changing an operational mode of said master control means (6).
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 32 words
A digital control system according to claim 2 wherein said master control means (6) includes means for returning to a master mode after a predetermined time following selection into the slave mode.
