Method and device for rapid acquisition of spin resonance data for a space-resolved examination of an object
Abstract
In the present FLASH (fast low angle shot) method, a high frequency or excitation pulse with a flip angle that is substantially smaller than 90 ° and preferably in the range between 50 ° and 10 °, only a relatively small fraction of that by constant magnetic field in the Z direction aligned spins flipped into the XY plane and the flipped spins are used as completely as possible by gradient switching to generate a gradient echo. Since the majority of the spins are still oriented in the Z direction, a new "partial excitation pulse" can be brought into effect immediately after the detection of the echo, which again only a small fraction of the spins oriented in the Z direction in the XY direction folded down. The small flip angle of the "fractional excitation pulses" results in an equilibrium state in the occupation of the Z direction, corresponding to a practically inexhaustible reservoir of spins which can be partially excited at short intervals and used for signal generation. The present method can therefore be called a gradient inversion method with a small flip angle and small high-frequency power and can be used for all field strengths of the B o field.
