Interactive method for consulting a memory store for television quality pictures by means of a distributor connected with an information transmission network, and system therefor

Abstract

Abstract The system comprises at least one server (1) comprising at least one memory (S1 to Sn) for still pictures, such as from television, and a distributing centre (3) connected to subscriber terminals (4) by a wide-band unidirectional transmission channel (CV) and a digital data transmission channel (CN). The signals representing the pictures are transmitted sequentially and cyclically over the wide-band channel and are accompanied by identification signals. Each subscriber terminal (4) comprises a picture memory (43) and means (42) of recognising identification signals. In additional variants several picture memories (M1 to Mm) are provided. <IMAGE>
