Abstract

Abstract A line exposure array of light emitting diodes (26a, 26b) arranged in spaced apart relationship with respect to each other in a line (A-A) is described. The array is geometrically configured to provide a substantially uniform exposure of a photosensitive material without underexposed stripes appearing on those areas of the photosensitive material Immediately adjacent the spaces between the light emitting diodes.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 8
Claim 1
Independent Claim 77 words
A line exposure array comprising an elongate support (18); and a plurality of light emitting elements (26a-26x) mounted on the support and generally disposed in spaced apart relation in a line (A-A), each of the light emitting elements being defined by two substantially parallel spaced apart edge lines (28a, 30a) extending generally in directions parallel to the line and interconnected at respective ends thereof by skewed edge lines extending in directions generally oblique to the line (A-A).
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 77 words
A line exposure array comprising an elongate support (18); and a plurality of light emitting elements (26a-26x) mounted on the support and generally disposed in spaced apart relation in a line (A-A), each of the light emitting elements being defined by two substantially parallel spaced apart edge lines (28a, 30a) extending generally in directions parallel to the line and interconnected at respective ends thereof by skewed edge lines extending in directions generally oblique to the line (A-A).
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 22 words
An array according to claim 2, wherein parts of adjacent light emitting elements (26a,26b) overlap in the direction of the line (A-A).
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 40 words
A line exposure array according to claim 1 or claim 2, wherein at least portions of the skewed edge lines (34a,34b) of adjacent light emitting elements (26a,26b) are arranged in substantially parallel spaced apart relation with respect to each other.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 29 words
A line exposure array according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the edge lines (28a,30a,32a,34a) for each of the light emitting elements are structured to define a trapezoid.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 43 words
A line exposure array according to any of the preceding claims, wherein each light emitting element (26a,26b) is offset with respect to its immediately adjacent elements by a select distance in a direction orthogonal to the line along which the elements are disposed.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 21 words
A line exposure array according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the light emitting elements comprise light emitting diodes (26a,26b).
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 105 words
An electronic image recording apparatus of the type responsive to electrical signal input representative of a select image for recording that image by exposing a photosensitive material (14), the image recording apparatus comprising a line exposure array (12) according to any of the preceding claims, the line exposure array being mounted in light exposing relationship across the photosensitive material (14) in use; and means (24) for effecting relative displacement between the line exposure array (12) and the photosensitive material (14) in a direction transverse to the line along which the light emitting elements are disposed to expose the entire surface of the photosensitive material (14).
