Abstract

Abstract A method of causing an observer to get a three-dimensional impression of a scene from a two-dimensional representation thereof is disclosed. The observer's movements, in particular the movements of his head and/or eyes, are monitored and means are provided by which, depending on these movements, two-dimensional representations uniquely associated with each position of the head and/or eye or eyes are displayed on a screen. According to the invention, the display means represent the relative parallactic displacement between all the objects in the scene relative to a predetermined fixation point in the scene.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 80 words
A method of causing an observer to get a three-dimensional impression of a scene from a two-dimensional representation thereof, in which the observer's movements are monitored and means are provided by which, depending on these movements, two-dimensional representations uniquely associated with each body position of the observer are displayed on a screen, characterized in that the display means represent the relative parallactic displacement between all the objects in the scene relative to a pre- determined fixation point in the scene.
Claim 2
Independent Claim 80 words
A method of causing an observer to get a three-dimensional impression of a scene from a two-dimensional representation thereof, in which the observer's movements are monitored and means are provided by which, depending on these movements, two-dimensional representations uniquely associated with each body position of the observer are displayed on a screen, characterized in that the display means represent the relative parallactic displacement between all the objects in the scene relative to a pre- determined fixation point in the scene.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 20 words
A method as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that the observer's movements are the movements of the observer's head.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 46 words
A method as claimed in claim 2, characterized in that the movements of the observer's eye or eyes are also monitored and that the image displayed is each time uniquely associated with both the position of the head and the position of the eye or eyes.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 44 words
A method as claimed in claim 1, 2 or 3, characterized in that the observer's movements are coupled to one movably disposed image pick-up apparatus which views the entire scene, which image pick-up apparatus is moved in accordance with the movements of the observer.
Claim 6
Independent Claim 34 words
A method as claimed in claims 1, 2 or 3, characterized in that the observer's movements are transmitted to means for selecting and displaying one from a plurality of prerecorded images of the scene.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 17 words
A method as claimed in claim 5, characterized in that the images are stored in digital form.
