Abstract Translated from German Verfahren zur Herstellung von 2-(1-Hydroxymethyl)-acrylnitril und -acrylestern der Formel <IMAGE> und R ein gegebenenfalls substituierter Alkylrest bedeutet, durch Umsetzung von Acrylnitril oder Acrylestern mit hydratisiertem Formaldehyd oder Halbacetalen des Formaldehyds in Gegenwart von tertiären Aminen als Katalysator. Process for the preparation of 2- (1-hydroxymethyl) acrylonitrile and acrylic esters of the formula <IMAGE> and R is an optionally substituted alkyl radical, by reacting acrylonitrile or acrylic esters with hydrated formaldehyde or hemiacetals of formaldehyde in the presence of tertiary amines as a catalyst.
