Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim 115 words
A process for activating a zeolite containing at least about 98 mole percent SiO 2 , comprising impregnating the zeolite with a liquid containing a source of aluminum in which aluminum is bonded to or coordinated with an oxygen atom, said oxygen atom being bonded to a hydrocarbyl group of 1 to 18 carbon atoms and being selected from alkyl, alkylene, aryl, alkylaryl and alkylenearyl groups, wherein each of said hydrocarbyl groups is unsubstituted or substituted by at least one group selected from -OH, -COOH, -NH,, -N(CH,COOH), and -COCH,; and calcining the impregnated zeolite at a temperature sufficient to remove said hydrocarbyl group from the zeolite and produce a zeolite of increased framework aluminum content.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 115 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 22 words
The process of Claim 1. which includes the additional step of converting the zeolite of increased aluminum content to its acid form.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 34 words
The process of Claim 2, wherein said acid form is produced by subjecting the zeolite of increased aluminum content to ammonium ion exchange and then heating the ammonium ion exchanged zeolite to remove ammonia.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 17 words
4 . The process of Claim 1, wherein said liquid is a solution of the aluminum source.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 10 words
The process of Claim 4, wherein said solution is anhydrous.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 13 words
The process of Claim 5, wherein the solvent is liquid ammonia or ethanol.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 18 words
The process of any one of claims 1 to 3 , wherein the source of aluminum is molten.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 16 words
The process of any preeding claim wherein said hydrocarbyl group has 1 to 10 carbon atoms.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 24 words
The process of any preceding claim wherein said aluminum source is an aluminum alkoxide and wherein the alkoxide has 1 to 4 carbon atoms.
