Abstract
Abstract An automobile antenna system mounted on a vehicle body electromagnetically detects surface currents induced on the vehicle body by broadcast waves. The antenna system includes a casing, a loop antenna and a circuitry housed in the casing. A part of the loop antenna which is exposed from an opening provided in the casing is mounted on the vehicle body in proximity to a marginal edge portion thereof. The casing has a metallic electrostatically shielded portion for housing the circuitry.

An automobile antenna system comprising: a casing attached to a vehicle body and having an opening which faces a metallic vehicle panel, at least a part of said casing being electrostatically shielded; a loop antenna housed in said casing with a part thereof arranged at a position facing said opening of said casing, said loop antenna being effective to detect high-frequency surface currents which are induced on the vehicle body by broadcast waves and concentrated on a marginal edge portion of the vehicle body; and a circuitry housed in the electrostatically shielded portion of said casing and connected to said loop antenna in order to process a detection signal; wherein said casing, said loop antenna, and said circuitry are assembled together to constitute a high-frequency pickup which is mounted at a given position in proximity to" the marginal edge portion of the vehicle body by a bracket.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
21 words
An automobile antenna system according to claim 1, wherein said loop antenna and said circuitry are housed in one metallic casing.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
73 words
An automobile.antenna system according to claim 1, wherein said casing includes a first casing which has an opening provided in the longitudinal direction of said loop antenna opposed to the marginal edge portion of the vehicle body such as to externally expose a part of said loop antenna, and which protects said loop antenna, and a second metallic casing which is integrally provided with said first casing so as to protect said circuitry.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
39 words
An automobile antenna system according to claims 1 to 3, wherein said bracket for fastening said high-frequency pickup to the vehicle body is formed of a synthetic resin, and prevents noise current from being transmitted from the vehicle body.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
43 words
An automobile antenna system according to claims 1 to 3, wherein a variable capacitor connected to said loop antenna is provided in said casing, and said capacitor causes the frequency of said loop antenna to resonate relative to a frequency to be measured.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
31 words
An automobile antenna system according to claims 1 to 3, wherein said loop antenna is held in said first casing by the opening provided in said first casing and reinforcing ribs.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
25 words
An automobile antenna system according to claims 1 to 3, wherein said loop antenna is fixed and held in said casing by a filling material.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
21 words
An automobile antenna system according to claim 7, wherein said filling material is a dielectric material of a low dielectric constant.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
67 words
An automobile antenna system according to claims 1 to 3, wherein said bracket which attaches said pickup to the vehicle body is screwed to said electrostatically shielded casing through a slot for adjusting the retaining position of said screw, so that the positional relation ship between said electrostatically shielded casing and said metallic vehicle panel can be adjusted as desired by varying the position of said screw.
