A curable fluoroelastomer composition

Claim 2

A curable fluoroelastomer composition comprising (a) a fluoroelastomeric copolymer of vinylidene fluoride and at least one other fluorinated monomer, (b) as a curing accelerator, an compound represented by the formula (1) wherein R 1 is an aryl group or a substituted aryl group substituted by at least one member selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, an alkoxy group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, a cyano group, a cycloalkyl group having 3 to 8 carbon atoms, a group of the formula wherein R 3 and R 4 , being the same or different, are each C 1 -C 20 alkyl, C 3 -C 8 cycloalkyl or a phenyl group, and a halogen atom, R 2 is an alkyl or halogenated alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl or halogenated cycloalkyl group having 3 to 8 carbon atoms, an aralkyl group having 7 to 20 carbon atoms, or a substituted aralkyl group having an aralkyl skeleton of 7 to 20 carbon atoms in which at least one hydrogen atom of the aryl part is substituted by at least one member selected from the group consisting of a C l -C 20 alkyl group, a C 3 -C 8 cycloalkyl group, a C 1 -C 20 alkoxy group, a phenyl group, a cyano group, a group of the formula wherein R 3 and R 4 , being the same or different, are each C 1 -C 20 alkyl, C 8 -C 8 cycloalkyl or a phenyl group, and a halogen atom, X is halogen, hydroxyl, sulfate, thiosulfate, nitrate, formate, acetate, cyanate, thiocyanate, tetraphenylborate, 2-mercaptobenzothiazolate, or perchlorate ion; (c) a polyhydroxy compound as a cross-linking agent; and (d) a metal compound selected from a divalent metal hydroxide, a divalent metal oxide or a mixture thereof.

Claim 3

A curable fluoroelastomer composition according to claim 1, wherein R 1 is an unsubstituted phenyl group.

Claim 4

A curable fluoroelastcmer composition according to claim 1, wherein R 1 is a substituted phenyl group.

Claim 5

A curable fluoroelastomer composition according to any of the claims 1 to 3, wherein R 2 is an aralkyl group having 7 to 20 carbon atoms.

Claim 6

A curable fluoroelastomer composition according to claim 1, wherein R 2 is an unsubstituted alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms.

Claim 7

A curable fluoroelastomer composition according to claim 1, wherein R 1 is an unsubstituted or substituted phenyl group and R 2 is a substituted or unsubstituted benzyl group.

Claim 8

A curable fluoroelastomer composition according to claim 6, wherein R 1 is an unsubstituted phenyl group.

Claim 9

A curable fluoroelastomer composition according to claim 6, wherein R 2 is an unsubstituted benzyl group.

Claim 10

A curable fluoroelastomer composition according to claim 1, wherein R 1 is an unsubstituted phenyl group and R 2 is an unsubstituted benzyl group.

Claim 11

A curable fluoroelastomer composition according to any of the claims 1 to 9, wherein X is a chloride or bromide ion.

Claim 12

A curable fluoroelastomer composition according to any of the claims 1 to 10, further comprising a sulfone compound, as a curing accelerator, represented by the formula : wherein R 5 and R 6 , the same or different, are each a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted cycloalkyl group having 3 to 20 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted cycloalkenyl group having 4 to 12 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl group having 7 to 20 carbon atoms and a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl group.

Claim 13

12 . A curable fluoroelastomer composition according to claim 11 , wherein R 5 and R 6 are substituted or unsubstituted alkyl groups having 1 to 8 carbon atoms.

Claim 14

13 . A curable fluoroelastomer composition according to any of the claims 1 to 12, wherein said iminium compound is bis(benzyldiphenylphosphine)iminium chloride.

Claim 15

A curable fluoroelastomer composition according to claim 11 or 13, wherein said sulfone compound is dimethylsulfone.

Claim 16

A curable fluoroelastomer composition according to any of the claims 1 to 14, wherein said polyhydroxy compound is bisphenol AF or hydroquinone.

Claim 17

A curable fluoroelastomer composition comprising (a) 100 parts by weight of a fluoroelastomeric copolymer of vinylidene fluoride and at least one other fluorinated monomer, (b) 0.05 to 2.0 parts by weight of a curing accelerator comprising an iminium compound represented by the formula (1) wherein R 1 is an aryl group or a substituted aryl group substituted by at least one member selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, an alkoxy group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, a cyano group, a cycloalkyl group having 3 to 8 carbon atoms, a group of the formula wherein R 3 and R 4' the same or different, are each C 1 -C 20 alkyl, C 3 -C 8 cycloalkyl or a phenyl group, and a halogen atom, R 2 is an alkyl or halogenated alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl or halogenated cycloalkyl group having 3 to 8 carbon atoms, an aralkyl group having 7 to 20 carbon atoms, or a substituted aralkyl group having an aralkyl skeleton of 7 to 20 carbon atoms in which at least one hydrogen atom of the aryl part is substituted by at least one member selected from the group consisting of a C 1 -C 20 alkyl group, a C 3 -C 8 cycloalkyl group, a C 1 -C 20 alkoxy group, a phenyl group, a cyano group, a group of the formula wherein R 3 and R 4' the same or different, are each C 1 -C 20 alkyl, C 8 -C 8 cycloalkyl or a phenyl group, and a halogen atom, X is halogen, hydroxyl, sulfate, thiosulfate, nitrate, formate, acetate, cyanate, thiocyanate, tetraphenylborate, 2-mercaptobenzothiazolate, or perchlorate ion; (c) 0.1 to 10 parts by weight of a polyhydroxy compound as a cross-linking agent; and (d) 1 to 30 parts by weight of a metal compound selected from a divalent metal hydroxide, a divalent metal oxide or a mixture thereof.

Claim 18

A curable fluoroelastomer composition comprising (a) 100 parts by weight of a fluoroelastomeric copolymer of vinylidene fluoride and at least one other fluorinated monomer, (b) 0.05 to 2.0 parts by weight of a curing accelerator comprising an iminium compound represented by the formula (1) wherein R 1 is an aryl group or a substituted aryl group substituted by at least one member selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, an alkoxy group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, a cyano group, a cycloalkyl group having 3 to 8 carbon atoms, a group of the formula wherein R 3 and R 4' the same or different, are each C 1 -C 20 alkyl, C 3 -C 8 cycloalkyl or a phenyl group, and a halogen atom, R 2 is an alkyl or halogenated alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl or halogenated cycloalkyl group having 3 to 8 carbon atoms, an aralkyl group having 7 to 20 carbon atoms, or a substituted aralkyl group having an aralkyl skeleton of 7 to 20 carbon atoms in which at least one hydrogen atom of the aryl part is substituted by at least one member selected from the group consisting of a C 1 -C 20 alkyl group, a C 3 -C 8 cycloalkyl group, a C 1 -C 20 alkoxy group, a phenyl group, a cyano group, a group of the formula wherein R 3 and R 4' the same or different, are each C 1 -C 20 alkyl, C 8 -C 8 cycloalkyl or a phenyl group, and a halogen atom, X is halogen, hydroxyl, sulfate, thiosulfate, nitrate, formate, acetate, cyanate, thiocyanate, tetraphenylborate, 2-mercaptobenzothiazolate, or perchlorate ion; (c) 0.1 to 10 parts by weight of a polyhydroxy compound as a cross-linking agent; and (d) 1 to 30 parts by weight of a metal compound selected from a divalent metal hydroxide, a divalent metal oxide or a mixture thereof.

Claim 19

1 7 . A curable fluoroelastomer composition according to claim 16, wherein R1 is unsubstituted phenyl and R 2 is a.benzyl group.

Claim 20

A curable fluoroelastomer composition according to claim 16, wherein said iminium compound is bis(benzyl- diphenylphosphine) iminum chloride, said polyhydroxy compound is bisphenol AF or hydroquinone, and said metal compound is an oxide or hydroxide of magnesium, zinc, calcium or lead.

Claim 21

A curable fluoroelastomer composition according any of the claims 16to 18, further comprising a sulfone compound as a curing accelerator, represented by the formula : wherein R 5 and R6, the same or different, are each a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted cycloalkyl group having 3 to 20 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted cycloalkenyl group having 4 to 12 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl group having 7 to 20 carbon atoms and a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl group.

Claim 22

A curable fluoroelastomer composition according to claim 18 or 19, further comprising 0.05 to 10 parts by weight of dimethylsulfone.
