Abstract
Abstract An apparatus for recording and or reproducing a data signal on or from a disk shaped recording medium (1) having a special track in which control information is prerecorded. The apparatus reproduces the control information at first when the disk (1) is mounted therein, and stores the reproduced control information in a memory (42). A rotation control circuit (6) for controlling the rotation of the recording medium (1) is supplied with a control signal based on the control information read out of the memory (42) and controls the rotation of the medium (1) such that the linear velocity of the rotation is of a predetermined constant value according to the control information.

An apparatus for recording and/or reproducing a data signal on or from a disk shaped recording medium (1) having substantially spiral tracks in which a plurality of sectors are formed, each of said sectors having a serial address code, said disk shaped recording medium (1) including a special track in which at least control information used for controlling the rotation of said recording medium (1) is recorded, said apparatus is characterized b y a recording and/or reproducing head (3), means for reproducing the control information recorded in said special track when said recording medium (1) is set on said apparatus, memory means (42) for storing the control information therein, means for separating the address code from the signal reproduced by said head (3), control signal generating means supplied with the control information stored in said memory means (42) and the address code for generating a control signal, and a rotation control circuit (6) supplied with the control signal for controlling the roration of said disk shaped recording medium (1) such that the linear velocity of the rotation of said recording medium (1) is a predetermined constant value in accordance with said control signal.

An apparatus according to claim 1, characterized in that the control information recorded in said special track includes a parameter indicating the inclination of the increase of the number of sectors and said control signal generating means includes an arithmetic unit (41) for generating reference frequency information from the address code and the parameter.

An apparatus according to claim 2, characterized in that said control signal generating means further includes fixed frequency oscillator (43) and a variable divider (44) for frequency dividing the output of said fixed frequency oscillator (43), the dividing ratio of said variable divider (44) being controlled by the output of said arithmetic unit (41), and the output of said variable divider (44) being supplied to said rotation control circuit (6).

An apparatus according to claim 1, characterized in that the control information includes address information indicating the CLV recording area and CAV recording area, and said control signal generating means includes a sensing circuit supplied with the address code and the address information for sensing whether the sector represented by the address code supplied thereto is in the CLV recording area or CAV recording area.
