Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 9
Claim 1
Independent Claim
118 words
Apparatus for individually processing optical images of different wavelength ranges, comprising an objective lens (10, 30), means (32) for splitting light passed by the objective lens into a plurality of beams containing different wavelength ranges respectively, and separate image receptors (34) for the respective beams, characterised in that it comprises second means (36) for splitting light into a plurality of beams (37a, 37b) containing different wavelength ranges respectively, means (40) in the path of one or more but not all the plurality of beams for reducing the effective aperture of the objective lens (30) for light in each said beam and means (38) for recombining the beams (37a, 37b) prior to their passage through the objective lens (30).
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
37 words
Apparatus according to claim 1, characterised in that the means (12) providing a reduced effective aperture comprise an aperture stop (18) made of material opaque to one or more but not all of the different wavelength ranges.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
15 words
Apparatus according to claim 2, characterised in that the opaque material is a dichroic material.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
39 words
Apparatus according to any preceding claim, characterised in that the processing means (26) comprises an aperture stop (40) positioned to reduce the diameter of the cone light of the wavelength range being processed which enters the objective lens (30).
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
22 words
Apparatus according to any preceding claim, characterised by a filter (42) in the path of one (37b) of the plurality of beams.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
27 words
Apparatus according to claim 5, characterised in that the filter is a variable density filter in the path of an unprocessed one of the plurality of beams.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
19 words
Apparatus according to any preceding claim, characterised in that the second beam-splitting means (32, 36) comprises a dichroic mirror.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
25 words
Apparatus according to any of claims 4 to 7, characterised in that the means (38) for recombining the beams (37a, 37b) comprises a dichroic mirror.
