Claim 1
Independent Claim
124 words
A conveying apparatus (10) including an endless driven conveyor belt (11) having a tail terminal (12) at one end and a head terminal (13) at the other end thereof around which said belt (11) passes, a drive means connected driveably in cooperative action with said endless conveyor belt, said endless conveyor belt characterized by having flaps foldable about longitudinal fold axes (30) to increase load carrying capacity of the belt, support rolls (14) positioned at intervals between said tail terminal (12) and said head terminal (13) to cause the belt to curve upward to increase its load carrying capacity, means to load and a means to unload said belt (11), said means to unload said belt (11) being positioned at the head terminal (13).
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
57 words
The conveying apparatus (10) of claim 1 characterized by said belt (11) being under sufficient tension to cause the belt (11) to run in essentially a closed position over the distance between lines displaced 7 to 15 X W from each terminal where W is the width of the belt (11) between said belt fold axes (30).
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
77 words
The conveying apparatus (10) of claim 1 wherein the belt (11) moves under sufficient tension to keep the belt (11) essentially closed along its path except a distance characterized as about 7 to 15 X W on either side of the head terminal (13) and about 3.5 to 7.5 W on each side of a feed chute (40) at the tail terminal (12) where W is the width of the belt between said belt fold axes (30).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
76 words
The conveying apparatus (10) of claim 1 wherein the belt (11) is a reinforced plastic or elastomeric belt (11), characterized by being pressed in flat position at an elevated temperature to produce a set or cure of about 40 to 60X and then is folded to form two fold lines (44) displaced at least one-half width of said belt (11) and then further pressed at elevated temperature to further set or cure the fold lines (44).
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
48 words
The conveying apparatus (10) of claim 1 wherein the cured belts (11) fold line (44) is characterized by removing away part of a section of the cured belt (11) to form two longitudinal fold lines (44) positioned at a maximum of one-half W from edge of said belt.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
26 words
-The conveying apparatus (10) of claim 1 wherein the edges of the flaps and the fold line (44) are characterized by a coating of silicone lubricant.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
27 words
The conveying apparatus (10) of claim 1 wherein the width provided by the idler rolls (14) is characterized as about half that of the tail roll (32).
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
22 words
The conveying apparatus (10) of claim 1 wherein the support rolls are characterized as straight idler rolls (14) outside the transition zone.
