Abstract
Abstract A visual indicator safety device (10) comprising one or more electroluminescent lamp devices (11) secured to a carrier (12) which can be worn by a person, the electroluminescent lamp devices (11) being electrically connected to a DC power supply via a control circuit (13) which includes a power DC/AC converter and an interrupter/flashing circuit which interrupts the power supply to the converter to cause the electroluminescent lamp devices (11) to flash.

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 9
Claim 1
Independent Claim
78 words
A visual indicator safety device (10) comprising one or more electroluminescent lamp devices (11) secured to a carrier member (12) which can be worn by a person, the or each electroluminescent lamp device (11) being electrically connected to a DC power supply via a control circuit (13) which includes a power DC/AC converter and an interrupter/flashing circuit which when operative interrupts the power supply to the converter to cause the electroluminescent lamp device or devices (11) to flash.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
41 words
A visual indicator safety device as claimed in claim 1, in which the DC power supply comprises a battery or batteries provided in a container (15) which houses the control circuit (13) and which is attached to the carrier member (12).
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
55 words
A visual indicator safety device as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2, in which the or each electroluminescent lamp device (11) comprises a rear aluminium foil electrode (16) provided on one side with a dielectric resin layer (17) on which is applied a phosphor resin layer (18) covered by a transparent film layer (19).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
31 words
A visual indicator safety device as claimed in any preceding claim, in which the or each lamp device (11) is contained with a plastics envelope (14) attached to the carrier (12).
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
35 words
A visual indicator safety device as claimed in claim 4, in which the plastics envelope (14) comprises a plurality of layers of a fluorohalocarbon transparent film on each side of the electroluminescent lamp device (11).
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
17 words
A visual indicator safety device as claimed in claim 5, in which the film material is polychlorotrifluoroethylene.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
41 words
A visual indicator safety device as claimed in any preceding claim, in which the carrier member (12) is in the form of a band which can encircle the person's body, or in the form of a helmet (26) or waistcoat (25).
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
22 words
A visual indicator safety device as claimed in any preceding claim, in which the carrier is covered with a light reflective material.
