Abstract

Abstract A method of recording and/or reproducing digital data on a rotary magnetic disc (2) under the condition that address data of the digital data are made non-consecutive relative to an original time sequence thereof by adding error correction bits to the digital data and re-arrangement of the digital data, includes providing a buffer memory (20) between the disc (2) and a peripheral device, the buffer memory (20) having a capacity capable of completing the re-arrangement of the digital data, allocating the digital data to the buffer memory (20) such that actual data and the error correction bits are respectively stored in different memory areas of said buffer memory (20), and converting address data upon writing or reading the digital data from the buffer memory (20) so as to allocate the address data such that the address data become non-consecutive as seen from a recorded pattern of the disc (2) and consecutive as seen from the peripheral device.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 8
Claim 1
Independent Claim 63 words
Disc drive control apparatus for recording and/or reproducing digital data, the apparatus comprising: circuit means for reading and/or writing digital data from and/or on a magnetic disc (2) via a magnetic transducer (10); characterised in that: said circuit means comprises buffer storage means (20) for re-arranging digital data to be written on said magnetic disc (2) or read from said magnetic disc (2).
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 63 words
Disc drive control apparatus for recording and/or reproducing digital data, the apparatus comprising: circuit means for reading and/or writing digital data from and/or on a magnetic disc (2) via a magnetic transducer (10); characterised in that: said circuit means comprises buffer storage means (20) for re-arranging digital data to be written on said magnetic disc (2) or read from said magnetic disc (2).
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 59 words
Apparatus according to claim 1 wherein recorded digital data on said magnetic disc (2) include at least actual data and error check data arranged alternately at a predetermined repetition rate along a record track of the magnetic disc (2), and said actual data and said error check data are stored in separate areas in said buffer storage means (20).
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 39 words
Apparatus according to claim 2 wherein said circuit means includes a direct memory access controller (51) to manage address controls of said buffer storage means (20) upon transferring data between said buffer storage means (20) and a peripheral device.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 35 words
Apparatus according to claim 3 wherein said circuit means includes address converting means (54) to manage address controls of said buffer storage means (20) upon transferring data to and from said buffer storage means (20).
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 50 words
Apparatus according to claim 4 wherein said circuit means further includes error correction encoding means (56) which generates error check data based on the actual data transferred from a peripheral device to said buffer storage means (20), thus generated error check data being stored in said buffer storage means (20).
Claim 7
Independent Claim 162 words
A method of recording and/or reproducing digital data on a rotary magnetic disc (2) under the condition that address data of the digital data are made non-consecutive relative to an original time sequence thereof by adding error correction bits to the digital data and by re-arrangement of the digital data; characterised by: providing a buffer memory (20) between said rotary magnetic disc (2) and a peripheral device, the buffer memory (20) having a capacity capable of completing the re-arrangement of the digital data; allocating the digital data to said buffer memory (20) such that actual data and the error correction bits are respectively stored in different memory areas of said buffer memory (20); and converting address data upon writing or reading the digital data from said buffer memory (20) so as to allocate the address data such that the address data become non-consecutive as seen from a recorded pattern of the magnetic disc (2) and consecutive as seen from said peripheral device.
