Abstract

Abstract An electricity metering equipment wherein, in order to reduce the possibility of fraudent consumption of electricity, there is provided in addition to the usual meter (3) for measuring the amount of electricity consumed, an independent device (5) which produces a signal corresponding to the supply of electricity. A comparison means (4) then compares the signal with the amount of electricity consumed as measured by the meter, and an output signal is produced if there is a discrepancy which may be used to disconnect the supply and/or transmit a signal to the supply authority.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 12
Claim 1
Independent Claim 79 words
1 . An electricity metering equipment comprising electricity metering means (3) for measuring the amount of electricity consumed in a load characterised in that the equipment further includes means .(5) independent of said metering means for deriving a first signal in response to the supply of electricity to said load; and comparison means (4) for producing an output signal in response to a predetermined discrepancy between said first signal and a comparable second signal derived from said metering means.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 79 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 39 words
An equipment according to Claim 1 wherein said first signal is a signal representative of the current supplied to said load and said second signal is a signal representative of the rate of consumption of electricity by said load.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 19 words
An equipment according to Claim 2 wherein said means independent of said metering means comprises a current transformer (5).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 79 words
An equipment according to Claim 2 or Claim 3 wherein said comparison means (4) comprises means for producing an output signal when the rate of consumption of electricity as represented by said second signal is below a rate corresponding to a predetermined value of the current supplied to the load as represented by said first signal, and the value of the current supplied to the load as represented by said first signal is not less than said predetermined value.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 71 words
An equipment according to Claim 4 wherein said metering means produces impulses each of which represents consumption of a given amount of electricity and said comparison means (4) comprises: a counter means (9, 10, 11) arranged to count the number of impulses produced by the metering means in a predetermined period; a comparator (12) for comparing the count of the counter means for each said predetermined period with a predetermined count
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 37 words
corresponding to said predetermiend value of the current supplied to the load; and means (6, 8) for inhibiting said comparator (12) when the value of the current supplied to the load is less than said predetermined value.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 37 words
corresponding to said predetermiend value of the current supplied to the load; and means (6, 8) for inhibiting said comparator (12) when the value of the current supplied to the load is less than said predetermined value.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 28 words
An equipment according to any one of the preceding claims including switch means (2) for disconnecting the load from the electricity supply in response to said output signal.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 32 words
An equipment according to any one of the preceding claims wherein said comparator means (4) includes means for transmitting a further signal to a remote location in response to a said discrepancy.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 62 words
An equipment according to any one of the preceding claims further including a prepayment unit (1) arranged to connect the supply to the load on the insertion of coins or tokens into the unit and to disconnect the supply from the load when the metering means has indicated the consumption of an amount of electricity corresponding to the tokens or coins inserted.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 28 words
An equipment according to Claim 8 when dependent on Claim 6 wherein said prepayment unit (1) operates said switch means (2) to disconnect the supply from the load.
