Abstract

Abstract @ A filter cartridge for removing particles or dust from a stream of moving gas or air, comprising a pleated filter medium (4) disposed between a pleated inner wire support frame (3), outer longitudinal wire support stays disposed along each inner apex of the pleats of the filter medium, and end caps. The outer wire stays (5) are formed from inwardly bent wires which are attached at each end to the inner frame (3) and exert pressure on the filter medium to support it against inner pressure of a pulse jet cleaning device. Preferred filter media are felt or fabric composites containing a layer of porous expanded polytetrafluoroethylene membrane.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 9
Claim 1
Independent Claim 102 words
A gas filter cartridge comprising a pleated filter medium and a support on which the filter medium is supported, characterised in that said support comprises a correspondingly-pleated wire support frame (3) which engages in the pleats of the filter medium (4), a wire stay (5) disposed at the inner apex of each pleat of the filter medium for supporting the filter medium on the side thereof opposite the wire frame, and end caps (2, 6 or 7) into which the ends of the pleats of the filter medium (4), the pleated wire support frame (3) and the wire stays (3), are sealed.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 102 words
A gas filter cartridge comprising a pleated filter medium and a support on which the filter medium is supported, characterised in that said support comprises a correspondingly-pleated wire support frame (3) which engages in the pleats of the filter medium (4), a wire stay (5) disposed at the inner apex of each pleat of the filter medium for supporting the filter medium on the side thereof opposite the wire frame, and end caps (2, 6 or 7) into which the ends of the pleats of the filter medium (4), the pleated wire support frame (3) and the wire stays (3), are sealed.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 19 words
A cartridge according to Claim 1, characterised in that the said wire stays are formed from inwardly curved wires.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 24 words
A cartridge according to Claim 2, characterised in that the ends of said wire stays are mechanically fastened to said pleated wire support frame.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 31 words
A cartridge according to Claim 3, characterised in that the periphery of the lower end cap has the same contour as said pleated filter medium and said pleated wire support frame.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 32 words
A cartridge according to Claim 3 or Claim 4, characterised in that the mechanically fastened outer stay wires are adhered to said filter medium along the lines of contact with said medium.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 24 words
A cartridge according to any preceding claim, characterised in that the said pleated filter medium comprises at least one layer of porous expanded polytetrafluoroethylene.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 67 words
A cartridge according to any preceding claim, characterised in that the said wire stays further comprise a pair of wires, a first one of which is disposed in a continuous outwardly facing groove along the length of a second one of said wires, said first wire holding said second wire in place, and only said first wire being mechanically fastened to said inner pleated wire support frame.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 21 words
A cartridge according to any preceding claim characterised in that the said pleated filter medium and wire support frame are tubular.
