Abstract

Abstract A device is described for use in a tape player for detecting the tape end made of transparent material. The oscillator (12) generates pulses (b), which are delayed (14) and made to control a LED (15). A light detector (18) should thus give a signal only when the tape end has been reached, and only during the delayed pulse. If, however, stray light on the detector makes signal (g) go high without the LED being activated, then the output (c) is blocked by AND-gate (23). Thus a stop signal is given only when emitted light pulse and detected light pulse are synchronised, and the effect of ambient light is eliminated.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 5
Claim 1
Independent Claim 133 words
A device for use in a tape driving apparatus for detecting the tape end made of transparent material, comprising a cassette accommodating therein the tape to be transported by the tape driving apparatus, a control signal generating means for generating in succession a couple of signals consisting of a first output and a second output having a delay time behind said first output, a light emitting device for emitting light upon the existence of said second output from said control signal generating means, a sensor for receiving the light emitting from the light emitting device through said tape end of transparent material, and a discriminating means for controlling the output supplied from said sensor during the existence of said second output by means of said first output from said control signal generating means.
Claim 2
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 87 words
The device as claimed in Claim 1, wherein said discriminating means comprises a first means for obtaining a first detecting signal upon the existence of said first output of said control signal generating means, a second means for obtaining a second detecting signal on the basis of the output supplied from the sensor during the existence of the second output from said control signal generating means, and a third means for controlling the supply of the second signal to the outside by means of the first signal.
Claim 4
Independent Claim 108 words
A device for use in a tape driving apparatus for detecting the tape end made of transparent material, comprising a cassette accommodating therein the tape to be transported by the tape driving apparatus, a control signal generating means for generating alternatively in succession a first output or a second output, a sensor for receiving light when generating both said first and second outputs, a light emitting device for emitting light when generating said second output at a position facing the sensor through the tape to be transported, and a discriminating means for providing an output when said sensor generates the output in synchronization with only said second output.
Claim 5
Independent Claim 108 words
A device for use in a tape driving apparatus for detecting the tape end made of transparent material, comprising a cassette accommodating therein the tape to be transported by the tape driving apparatus, a control signal generating means for generating alternatively in succession a first output or a second output, a sensor for receiving light when generating both said first and second outputs, a light emitting device for emitting light when generating said second output at a position facing the sensor through the tape to be transported, and a discriminating means for providing an output when said sensor generates the output in synchronization with only said second output.
