Abstract

Abstract Hydraulic assistance device of the mixed hydrodynamic! hydrostatic type incorporating a body (10) in which a first piston (18) is slideably mounted and moveable between a first position allowing the communication of a first chamber (53), joined to a braking circuit, to a reservoir (12), and isolating this chamber (53) from a source of high pressure fluid (86), and a second position isolating the chamber (53) from the reservoir (12) and connecting it with the source (86); a second chamber (30) in the body (10) connected by a passage (90) to the brakes (66), and valve means (92) normally closing the passage (90) and sensitive to the pressure in the chamber (30) so that, when the latter pressure reaches a value which is greaterthan that existing in the first chamber (53), the valve means (92) opens. allowing fluid to flow between the second chamber (30) and the brakes (66).

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 11
Claim 1
Independent Claim 197 words
Hydraulic assistance device incorporating a body (10) provided with a bore (14) in which a first piston (18) is slideably mounted and moveable under the effect of the actuation of a brake pedal, between a first position allowing the communication of a first chamber (53) joined to a braking circuit and a low pressure reservoir (12), and isolating this chamber (53) from a source of high pressure fluid (86), and a second position isolating the chamber (33) from the low pressure reservoir (12) and putting it into communication with the high pressure source (86), the device also incorporating a second chamber (30) formed in the body (10), a passage (90) causing this second chamber (30) to communicate with the brakes (66), characterised in that the device incorporates a valve means (92) in the passage (90) in such a way that the passaqe is normally closed, the valve means (92) being sensitive to the pressure in the second chamber (30) so that, when the latter pressure reaches a value which is greater than that existing in the first chamber (53), the valve means (92) opens allowing fluid to flow between the second chamber (30) and the brakes (66).
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 197 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 49 words
Device accordinq to Claim 1, characterised in that the first chamber (53) is formed in the bore (14) between the body (10) and a sleeve (52), and the means of communication between the first chamber (53) and the reservoir (12) incorporates a second bore (54) in the sleeve (52).
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 53 words
Device according to Claim 2, characterised in that it incorporates a second piston (56) slideably mounted in the second bore (54) and joined to the first piston (18), and a valve means (76) between the high pressure source (86) and the first chamber (53), capable of being controlled by the second piston (56).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 42 words
Device according to Claim 3, characterised in that the passage (90) incorporates an annular space in the bore (14) between the sleeve (52) and the body (10), the valve means (92) incorporating a lipped annular seal (92) mounted on the sleeve (52).
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 75 words
Device according to Claim 4, characterised in that it incorporates a push rod (24) slideably mounted in a bore (20) in the first piston (18) and joining the first piston (18) to the second piston (56), the means of communication between the first chamber (53) and the reservoir (12) incorporating a bore (58) in the second piston (56), a passage (26) in the push rod (24) and an opening (42) in the first piston (18).
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 29 words
Device according to Claim 5, characterised in that it incorporates valve means (32 ; 70) in the means of communication between the first chamber (53) and the reservoir (12).
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 40 words
Device according to Claim 6, characterised in that the push rod (24) further comprises valve means (100) operable to close the means of communication between the first chamber (53) and the reservoir (12) and linked to the valve means (70).
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 25 words
Device according to Claim 7, characterised in that it further comprises spring means (108) operable to urge the valve means (100) into its closed position.
Claim 10
