Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 11
Claim 1
Independent Claim 30 words
A heat-sensitive transfer medium which comprises a heat-melting ink layer and an overcoating layer comprising a resin and/or a wax and overlying the transferring-side surface of the heat-melting ink layer.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 30 words
A heat-sensitive transfer medium which comprises a heat-melting ink layer and an overcoating layer comprising a resin and/or a wax and overlying the transferring-side surface of the heat-melting ink layer.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 26 words
A medium according to claim 1 in which the resin and the wax contained in the overcoating layer melt at a temperature from 40° to 150°C.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 16 words
A medium according to claim 2 in which the said temperature is from 60° to 120°C.
Claim 5
Independent Claim 29 words
A medium according to any preceding claim in which the overcoating layer comprises a resin selected from low molecular weight polyethylene, styrene-butadiene copolymers, acrylic resins, and ethylenevinyl acetate copolymers.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 25 words
A medium according to claim 1 in which the overcoating layer comprises a wax selected from carnauba wax, ouricury wax, microcrystalline wax, and paraffin wax.
Claim 7
Independent Claim 18 words
A medium according to any preceding claim in which the overcoating layer contains a lubricant or other additive.
Claim 8
Independent Claim 14 words
A medium according to any preceding claim wherein the overcoating layer has non-tacky properties.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 45 words
A thermal transfer printing process characterised in that (a) there is utilised a transfer medium according to any preceding claim and thus (b) the transfer medium is moved at a speed slower than the normal 1:1 speed ratio between sending speed and medium moving speed.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 30 words
A process according to claim 8 wherein the ' said medium moving speed is reduced to a speed up to 1/10th of the speed corresponding to the said normal ratio.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 24 words
A process according to claim 8 wherein the reduced speed is from 1/5th to 1/10th of the speed corresponding to the said normal ratio.
